Codes that promise more than 4% aren't real

Search for a Hyperliquid code and you'll find pages offering 10%, 20% or even 50% off. Hyperliquid sets the referral discount in the protocol, and it is 4% for every code. A code can't change it.

The same goes for “lifetime” discounts. The discount stops after $25M of volume. And no code earns airdrop points. If a site asks you to connect your wallet to “activate” a code or check an airdrop, leave. A real code only needs the app.hyperliquid.xyz link above.

What is the Hyperliquid referral code?
COINGECKO. Join through app.hyperliquid.xyz/join/COINGECKO or enter it on the Referrals page in the app, and you get 4% off your trading fees on your first $25M in volume.
Does any code give more than 4%?
No. The 4% discount is set by Hyperliquid and is the same for every valid code. Sites that promise 10%, 20% or 50% are wrong. Volume tiers and HYPE staking also cut fees, and both stack with the referral discount.
Can I add a referral code after I signed up?
Yes, as long as the wallet has no code yet and has traded $10,000 or less. Above that, the app no longer accepts a code. Paste your address into the wallet checker to see which applies to you.
Can I change my referral code?
No. Once a wallet has a code, the app shows it and doesn't let you enter another. Every code gives the same 4%, so there is nothing to gain from switching.
How long does the discount last?
For your first $25M in trading volume on that wallet. At the base taker rate, $25M of volume costs $11,250 in fees, and 4% of that is $450.
Does the discount work on spot and HIP-3 markets?
Yes. Hyperliquid's fee formula applies the referral discount to perps, spot and HIP-3 perps alike. It does not apply to vaults or sub-accounts, because the clearinghouse treats them as separate accounts.
Does the code work in Phantom, MetaMask or other trading apps?
Not always. Apps that route orders through Hyperliquid can attach a builder code to each order. A proposal page in Hyperliquid's docs says a builder code overrides the referral code for that order, so the discount may not apply. Trade on app.hyperliquid.xyz to be sure it does.
What do you get from it?
Hyperliquid pays us a share of the fees from accounts that join with our code. It isn't added to your fees: you pay 4% less than without a code.
